WELCOME!

BIENVENUE!

Welcome to the Société Francophone de Cape Cod!

Who are we?  We are a group of French speaking people who meet for dinner once a month in an area restaurant (mostly in the Falmouth-Sandwich area) to converse in French and meet others who share our interest in things French and francophone. The only "rule" is French only, which means that a comfortable knowledge of conversational French is very important!  We have no officers, no projects, no work, and no dues. Our team of "directeurs/directrices" considers making these gatherings "fun"!

The Société was founded in April 2007 by Pauline Nelson, Ph.D, Professor of Foreign Languages Emeritus at Bethany College (WV). We are normally between twenty and thirty participants per month.  We usually take "summer vacations" in July and August. For five months of winter (October, November, December, January, and February), we meet in person or on Zoom,  either at lunchtime or at the end of the day, so that those who would prefer not to drive at night or who work are able to attend. For all of our meals together, reservations are required two days before the event.  At the meal we each order from the regular menu and simply pay for our own meal individually. Although we sometimes have a theme related to a French holiday, there are no formal programs...we just have conversations -

en français!

Perhaps you may be wondering whether or not you would be at ease with the Societe's level of French.  If so, please contact Paulette, 617-750-7511.  See our Upcoming Events.
